Protein Modeling in the Cloud

The same video is also available on YouTube or as MP4 version.

Using the CloudBroker Platform, researchers at the Institute of Molecular Systems Biology at ETH Zurich have been able to model about 2.3 million three-dimensional structures for 249 proteins of a harmful streptococcus bacterium by means of the Rosetta software. The cloud computing resources were provided by the IBM Cloud, and consisted of up to 1,000 virtual CPUs in parallel. The CloudBroker Platform automatically managed the more than 30,000 individual jobs and almost 1/4 million hours of processing time, bringing down the overall time to results from months to just two weeks. A scientific paper and two posters have been published about this project. For more information, please contact us.
